Where Entertainment Production and Design People Meet!

On Friday, March 11th, a huge 8.9 earthquake and subsequent tsunami hit just off the northeastern shore of Japan, causing widespread destruction. Our sister site, ProAudioSpace.com, (PAS) has been tracking tours and bands that were in Japan when the Earthquake hit.

Sandy Espinoza, a member of PAS spent late nights getting in touch and tracking bands across Japan and Asia to make sure they are safe.  Below is a listing of the tours and bands in that region and what we know.  If you have any updates or know anyone from the tours/bands that we have not heard from yet, please let us know.

In addition to tracking the tours in Asia and specifically Japan, I have been tracking down entertainment lighting manufacturers in that area to see how they were effected.  I have had little to no luck finding anything out.  If you know of any manufacturers or distributors in that area, please let me know.
The devastation witnessed at the shipping docks around Japan will likely lead to extended shipping times and short supplies from the that region.  Docks are over run with damaged shipping containers, and washed up debris. Officials are saying that it can take any where from a week to months to get individual shipping docks back in full working order.  I guess time will just tell.
If you have any information on tours, bands, manufacturers or alike from Japan, please post something here or email me at jlang@plsn.com.

I'm happy to say Disney just re-opened, along with Kooza, and Zed is shortly behind them. Tokyo itself seems pretty grounded, there are occasional after quakes that affect some numbers (try doing highwire in a 3.0 quake), but otherwise they seem to be doing reasonably well.

Thanks Jim!  I have sent a note over to PAS to update their list as well.

The production teams for RCI Legend of the Seas and Azamara Quest are safe. Legend of the Seas was in Hong Kong at the time and the Quest was in the far south west of Japan.

UPDATE: Keith Kankovsky from Apollo Design sent me a note. Thanks Keith!

We had received word this morning that Tokyo lighting and sound distributor H. Ito is well. The employees and their families are safe and sound and trying to resume a normal business schedule.
