OTTAWA — A sudden squall knocked down the main stage overhead rig on the last day of the 12-day, multi-stage Ottawa Bluesfest on Sunday, July 17 shortly before 8 pm, about 20 minutes after Cheap Trick started performing. The band members and crew were reported to be okay and no fatalities were reported, with the overhead truss and gear falling backward, away from the crowd, and onto some trucks. Even so, ambulances were on the scene and there were reports of several who were injured, one seriously. The wind and driving rain also drove thousands from the festival grounds and forced the cancellation of performances by Galatic, Joe Satriani and Death Cab For Cutie.
