Day 2
Mark Ravenhill, formerly of Martin Professional and now director of global key players for GLP, confirmed that GLP has purchased G-LEC, the manufacturer of the original transparent video displays called Phantom. Ravenhill will be relocating to Los Angeles from Denmark and open a GLP-USA office. Meanwhile on the InfoComm show floor, attendance was good and new products were in abundance. Main Light Industries showed a new MFV (pronounced MF Five) moving yoke fixture with a 30W x 36H LED pixel display. It’s a higher resolution version of their MF3.
Acclaim’s new Design Panel 72IP Solar is a system with a solar panel, battery, and Design Panel with 72 K2 LEDs. It’s rated IP65 and it will power a 250-watt fixture for 8 hours on a single charge. The batteries take about four hours to charge in bright sunshine.
Elation’s Design Wash 60RGBW is a moving yoke LED fixture with 60 3-watt Rebel LEDs. It’s small, about 16.5”x12.5”x19” and weighs 17 pounds. Also on the Elation stand was a prominent display of EVLED displays including the new 1024 SMD. Other new Elation products include the Design Spot 300 Pro, Design Beam 300, Design Spot 1200 Compact (which is about the same size as the 300s), Design Beam 1200 Compact, Design Wash LED Pro, and the new Trio consoles.
LSC is raising their profile in North America as evidenced by their own freestanding booth at InfoComm just a few feet from Applied Electronics, their US distributor. Among their new products was the MDR upgradeable DMX512 Splitter with optional RDM and optional wireless. But most impressive was the new Clarity PC-based lighting console with very well laid out graphical displays and lots and lots of features starting with the Carillon fixture library through the many dockable windows and much more. It has two optional wings and several options for output channels. This is going to be a seriously advanced control system when it starts shipping in a couple of months.
Brad White, formerly of Avolites America, was on the stand of his new employer, PixelRange, showing, among other new products, the new Skyline LED luminaire designed to light tall buildings up to about 300’. It’s a single-cell or 2-cell fixture with 90 watts of LEDs per cell and it has a milled aluminum housing. It will soon be lighting buildings around the world when it starts shipping in July.
There’s more, so much more… But I ran into Teddy Van Bemmel, formerly of Vanco Lighting. He and Woody Smith started Affineon Lighting. Check it out: www.affineonlighting.com.
