For the longest time, I have worked with my iTunes music running in the background. In fact, I have a couple of co-workers that call me from time to time just to see what I am listening to. I won't say I have the greatest taste in music or even know much about it. But I know what I like! With over 60 gigs worth of music, I felt like I had endless choice of music. Like many people, I only listen to a handful of playlist and the same music over and over again. It got a little…Continue

There was more water today at LDI... This time it was the natural kind outside. The rain did little to damper anyones spirits of getting into LDI and see all of the lighting goodness! Before I knew it, day one was over, my feet are tired and I needed a drink. I just fast forward through the good stuff didn't I!
Entering the hall for the first time, you don't know where to look! There is so much lighting candy and effects going on, you want to take it all in, but so do the hundreds of…Continue

At around noon today, Fire Alarms started to got off in meeting rooms in the south hall of the Orange County Convention Center. In the south 320 rooms, the fire suppression system engaged and began pouring water into the C-F S320 meeting rooms. If there was a fire, it was contained. Through mumblings have surfaced that a pyro mishap had cause the water system to engage. It is still unclear the amount of damage contained to the equipment in the S320 rooms.
The rooms below, S320C-F…Continue
It's like christmas eve for the lighting industry. It's the day before LDI opens up. Everyone is flying or driving in today, the exhibitors are finishing up their booths and the excitement in the swamp is building. Can you feel it? I have already talked to a number of people and then are some hidden gems being introduced at the show. While I would love to mention things now, I can't, I was told to come back tomorrow. And rightly so, I WILL! "Expect some exciting things" is what people are…Continue

It never fails. At least once a day I get an email or asked in person, "What do you think of LEDs?" I use to have an automatic response, but lately, I ponder the question a bit before I share. In all honesty, I love LEDs, they are a wonderful thing... if used in the correct way.
Let me explain.
As of right now, LEDs offer a nice wash fixture with unbelievable color choices at the touch of a button. But they still lack something in my opinion. Intensity and beam quality for a…Continue

Another day, another eight hours on the show floor. Today included a load more products, visits, videos, photos and meet new and old friends. Some of the new things seen on the show floor had to be the new MagicQ MQ60 desk from Chamsys… Think of the MQ100 console… now shrink it, you’ll have the MQ60. Same control and function as the MQ100, but travel size. It’s designed to go into a carry on bag for easy travel. No more checking a desk! Other big console news thus far is MA Lighting…Continue

The entire trip started with a red eye flight to London on Friday night. Red eye meaning we left at 5pm Friday from Dullas and arrived in London at 6:30am Saturday, an entire day before the show opened. Having some free time we were able to walk around bits of London to do the whole tourist thing… Happy I did it, but at the same time, it was tiring. Little sleep and walking is not a good way to start off the first day of a trade show. The shoes are the important part. A good pair equals a…Continue
