Rumors were humming with new products on the verge of being announced as well as a first US peek at many of the products that were announced at PLASA. It never fails. At least once a day I get an email or asked in person, "What do you think of LEDs?" I use to have an automatic response, but lately, I ponder the question a bit before I share. In all honesty, I love LEDs, they are a wonderful thing... if used in the correct way.

As of right now, LEDs offer a nice wash fixture with unbelievable color choices at the touch of a button. But they still lack something in my opinion. Intensity and beam quality for a…Continue

Another day, another eight hours on the show floor. Today included a load more products, visits, videos, photos and meet new and old friends. Some of the new things seen on the show floor had to be the new MagicQ MQ60 desk from Chamsys… Think of the MQ100 console… now shrink it, you’ll have the MQ60. Same control and function as the MQ100, but travel size. It’s designed to go into a carry on bag for easy travel. No more checking a desk! Other big console news thus far is MA Lighting…Continue

The entire trip started with a red eye flight to London on Friday night. Red eye meaning we left at 5pm Friday from Dullas and arrived in London at 6:30am Saturday, an entire day before the show opened. Having some free time we were able to walk around bits of London to do the whole tourist thing… Happy I did it, but at the same time, it was tiring. Little sleep and walking is not a good way to start off the first day of a trade show. The shoes are the important part. A good pair equals a…Continue

It works like this: You submit a photo of a production in which you used a Roscolux or Supergel color to achieve a specific purpose or goal. (An example of a production shot shown above.) You’ll need to tell us, in a couple of sentences, why you chose the Roscolux/Supergel color you used and what you or the director or the design team wanted to convey with the color choice. If you need more than one picture to tell the story, you can send up to five! You’ll also have to fill out an online…Continue

This is a call to the community. A few years back, we ran a column in PLSN called Welcome to My Nightmare. I am looking to bring that column back. The basic outline of the column is simple. We are looking for you to share these Nightmares as we call them with the rest of the industry.
If you are interested in submitting your production nightmare stories to PLSN, please…Continue
