LDI2011: Day One on the Show Floor

There was more water today at LDI... This time it was the natural kind outside.  The rain did little to damper anyones spirits of getting into LDI and see all of the lighting goodness! Before I knew it, day one was over, my feet are tired and I needed a drink. I just fast forward through the good stuff didn't I!

Entering the hall for the first time, you don't know where to look! There is so much lighting candy and effects going on, you want to take it all in, but so do the hundreds of…

LDI2011: Fire Alarms and Water Damage, Not a good Start

In the south 320 rooms, the fire suppression system engaged and began pouring water into the C-F S320 meeting rooms.  If there was a fire, it was contained. Through mumblings have surfaced that a pyro mishap had cause the water system to engage.  It is still unclear the amount of damage contained to the equipment in the S320 rooms.

LDI2011: The Pre-game (Thursday)

It's like christmas eve for the lighting industry. Your Thoughts on LEDs, Are they good enough?

It never fails. At least once a day I get an email or asked in person, "What do you think of LEDs?" I use to have an automatic response, but lately, I ponder the question a bit before I share. In all honesty, I love LEDs, they are a wonderful thing... if used in the correct way.

Let me explain.

As of right now, LEDs offer a nice wash fixture with unbelievable color choices at the touch of a button. But they still lack something in my opinion.  Intensity and beam quality for a…
