LDI2011: Day One on the Show Floor

There was more water today at LDI... This time it was the natural kind outside.  The rain did little to damper anyones spirits of getting into LDI and see all of the lighting goodness! Before I knew it, day one was over, my feet are tired and I needed a drink. I just fast forward through the good stuff didn't I!

Entering the hall for the first time, you don't know where to look! There is so much lighting candy and effects going on, you want to take it all in, but so do the hundreds of…

LDI2011: The Pre-game (Thursday)

It's like christmas eve for the lighting industry. It's the day before LDI opens up.  Everyone is flying or driving in today, the exhibitors are finishing up their booths and the excitement in the swamp is building.  Can you feel it? I have already talked to a number of people and then are some hidden gems being introduced at the show.  While I would love to mention things now, I can't, I was told to come back tomorrow. And rightly so, I WILL! "Expect some exciting things" is what people are…

Share Your Production Nighmares

This is a call to the community. A few years back, we ran a column in PLSN called Welcome to My Nightmare. I am looking to bring that column back. The basic outline of the column is simple. I am looking for your stories about problems and issues that you have experienced on a gig and how you solved them. We are looking for you to share these Nightmares as we call them with the rest of the industry.

If you are interested in submitting your production nightmare stories to PLSN, please…

Am I wrong, or do you see it in a different light, (another bad pun)? I want to hear what you think.

I’m addicted to technology. I love…

Last week we did a HUGE update to the back end of  The front side of the website didn't see much of a change other then a few layout changes.  One thing that did change that will effect readers are the RSS links.  RSS or Really Simple Syndication is a way to read a website with out all the fluff and layout of the site.  If you just want to read the content and see the images attached to a piece, RSS is the way to go.  I love RSS feeds, I have subscribed to over 600 different feeds…
