"Mine got handled. I deferred to a date before I leave and I'm home for more than 2 weeks. The clerk was very helpful and cool with me. Like Lisa said it really depends on the state. Tennessee has been cool to me, so far. "

"Handled. The state of Tennessee isn't too hard on me apparently :) I called you county clerk and they said it'd be fine. I just had to make sure I could supply them with documentation that I would be gone and I'd be fine."

"That should be enough.  I also got my company manager to write a letter on company stationary confirming the tour dates and that I was a full time employee.  That was always enough for Brooklyn, NY!  "

Jury Duty you say!? But I'll be abroad!

So I got a damn jury summons today in the mail. Has anyone dealt with jury duty while touring? I'm sure this will be a good thread to discuss the ins and outs of Jury Duty amongst touring folks. My particular situation is asking me to report while I'm away on a European tour for an entire month. I'd like some feedback on how you all would and/or have gone about this. My initial approach is to write them back and contact the county clerk stating the reason for my unavailability with…See More

You Get What You Pay For

Posted on May 15, 2013 at 7:35pm 0 Comments

Hey folks this week is the first step of my rig upgrade this has been in the works for some time. For a few weeks now I have been bidding out a lighting package I have been wanting to take out on the road with me. We always want to give plenty of vendors a chance to bid on a package, but there are certain factors for me when it comes down to deciding on a vendor. Price is always the most important, but that will NOT…

My Wife Has Some Cool Ideas

Posted on May 9, 2013 at 2:48pm 0 Comments

While I brainstorm for ideas on my shows I try to come up with everything myself. Whether its looking at past works I've done or just starting from scratch sooner or later I will hit a wall creatively somewhere. That's why it's important to keep and open mind and not be objected to outside suggestions from colleagues or even people in my personal life. There may be an idea that another can relate with personally or it may even relate with them professionally…

Ryman Shows, New Content, Set Revamp

Posted on April 30, 2013 at 11:00pm 0 Comments

Ooook so after getting back from Australia and getting sorted at home with my newborn son. It was time to get back to work after some schedule balancing. I found myself doing a couple one offs and then it was onto some pretty big shows at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. We wanted to go big for our shows back home so we got a high res Winvision video wall from…

New Scheduling

Posted on April 24, 2013 at 11:00pm 0 Comments

If there are any fathers out there you can definitely attest that when a new baby arrives in your family your scheduling gets flipped upside down. Even though your daily responsibilities change with a newborn it is important to keep up with what work you need to get done at home, and getting the rest you need at the same time. Since our son arrived I noticed it is crucial to split up your daily tasks into three hour intervals. I say three hour intervals because the usual norm for new born…

Wrapping Up Oz (Part Two)

Posted on April 19, 2013 at 11:02am 0 Comments

We wrapped up our show in Townsville, but not before I went over the cues on the GrandMA2 with Tim the lighting lead I had in Australia. With the whole scare about my wife possibly being induced while I was half a world away I felt it necessary to take this precaution just in case I had to go back to the USA. It was also a priority to notify the tour manager of my…
