"Not only what Kyle said but your lamp life and replacement cost should drop.
Alternately I've been importing stuff myself and can get you high powered lamps with 12 1w diodes. Color options are WW, CW, R, G or B.... in…"
"I had an install back in the 80's in New Jersey (union jack in south river). Lotta metal bands (early skid row, cinderella, overkill). Owner wanted to try hardcore bands on Sundays. Night before a band (phantasm) did a post-nucular-end of the…"
"What about getting dimmable LED Par 38s with high output diodes and just coloring them? It would give you more choice over color palettes, and the LEDs would likely not burn through saturated colors nearly as fast. This is of course assuming that…"
"christmas lights use a shunt; basically a low amp resistor (I think) so if one bulb blows current can flow to the others at the proper voltage. Since the bulbs are low wattage the shunt is small. A shunt for,say a 250 watt bulb may be improbable…"
"I heard a story (credible source). Electrician at another hospital (my day jobs asst.cheif eng. for a hospital power plant) working on a 4160 supply for centrifigul chillers. He dropped a wrench, bent to pick it up, was not really close to the buss…"
"the two bars of acl's were on different channels fed by different phases. the ground failed and the hot shorted on both bars to ground. so, when you touched both now ungrounded bars it was the same as grabbing both hot legs in either hand.threw…"
"First off what was he doing to those acl bars with 240vs!
Second you need better dimmers. The choke on those adj/elation dimmers are rediculous little coils. The bigger the choke the less garbage you'll have shivers back down the…"
"Well, lifting the ground (at least on the audio end) is nearly the best way. You're hearing the hum technically through the neutral as some of the power goes down the neutral for the dimmers to work. I know you can put an isolation transformer…"
"I ALWAYS try to leave a functional ground; I had a guy (mid 80's) was putting up 2 bars of 4 ACL's. The multipin connector failed. As he grabbed the iron pipe for hanging lights he got 240V between both bars. They weren't grounded. He…"
I have a small lighting rig for small bars. It has the elation 4 channel dimmers & board (@300$ for board and dimmer packs). No tie ins allowed: I have @ 40 par 38's and some leds, I need 2-15 amp outlets to run the whole shebang. Problem is, in some places the dimmers introduce noise to the audio system, usually between full on/off. There not on the same circuits but theres still dimmer noise created. Any Idea's on minumizing this noise?
