David Taylor - "Ave atque vale chum..."

Posted on January 24, 2011 at 10:06am 4 Comments

What can one say about a man like David Taylor, who was so gifted and talented, so full of humor and kindness, and so giving of himself to the industry and to his loving family, when his life is taken in a tragic accident?

David was a lighting consultant, most recently with Arup as the leader of their Theatre Consulting division and with Theatre Projects before that. He died on January 16 at the young age of 48 when he…

With your help, Titus Oladimeji, the audio student at SAE Audio Institute in Capetown, South Africa, has finally received his Apple Macbook Pro laptop computer. The computer will aid him in his studies. He notified me of the receipt this morning. Here is what he had to say:

10 Take Aways

Posted on August 23, 2010 at 6:30am 11 Comments

I've been extremely busy over the past few years writing books, teaching seminars, and editing PLSN. But this past weekend I worked a Dierks Bentley show for a local vendor, Midnight Lighting in Austin just to stay in touch with the industry and to see what I could learn about this crazy and wonderful business from the local vendor's point of view. It was two days of hot, sweaty, hard work and I loved every minute of it. The LD, Chris Reid, was very easy to work with despite the fact that he… Continue

Strike!

Posted on July 27, 2010 at 4:30pm 5 Comments

When I was a kid, my two older brothers were standing in the front door watching a massive electrical storm through the screen door. I was afraid to get too close to the doors or windows because of what sounded to me like earschplittenloudenboomers. Each bolt of lightning shook the house and rocked the neighborhood. They were

both leaning against the door jam with their hands resting on the…

Hi Richard:

I have an "in" with a group who are interested in developing a new movie studio in Southern California. My knowledge of LEDs does not qualify me for assisting in their lighting design. Do you have contacts in Southern CA who could assist if their plan comes to fruition?

Regards

Hey Richard, I hope all is well with you and your family. Are you going to be at Lightfair? I'll be around the Iluminarc booth. Albert & I will be roving the floor on the 12th, I'm sure he'd love to see you, and thank you for helping out with the Help For Haiti charity. If not there, perhaps at Infocomm. Either way, drop me a line, I'd like to catch up.
