I'll second the Swisson recommendation.  I just got one about a month ago and it has come in super handy. Especially when I want to do a quick dimmer check without running back and forth to FOH.  Purchased mine from http://roadietools.com/swisson_xmt.html

Goddard Design makes some great DMX test gear and of course Dr DMX Doug Fleenor makes some great stuff to and they are made in the USA.Buy Ameican
